The evolvement of the folding bike, at least on the U.S. market, may arguably have occurred in three stages:
Until not that long ago a folder was a bicycle that did not ride well, handle well—or even fold that well. Frankly some current makes/models may still languish in this category.
Subsequently a few brands were able to offer bikes which fold easily and crisply and 'ride pretty well' too. As in 'pretty well for a folder'.
Now a few high end bikes fold easily and crisply, and 'ride superbly' as well. As in 'superbly for any bike large or small, folding or not'.
In fact some of our customers buy their folders not primarily because of foldability. As we learn more about the exceptional merits of small wheeled, well designed bikes more of us are wondering whether 26" wheels may not be unnecessarily large (i.e. for some riders and on some rides).
In our Seattle store you'll find a selection of Brompton models, the Giant Halfway and Clip , and the Strida. Come in, test ride and compare!
If you bought your bike from us we shall be glad to support it. We are otherwise not staffed to do so—whether for shop work or with advice over the phone or by email.
