In a world of remarkable products Brompton stands out.

It uniquely combines functionality, style, quality assurance, integration, reliability, riding enjoyment, performance, utility and comfort with superb foldability. Quite the mouthful but true nevertheless.

And not mere foldability but achieved in 10-20 seconds, with great ease and precision into an exceptionally small package: 11" wide x 22" long x 23" high (or exactly 270 mm x 545 mm x 565 mm).

Take it anywhere. Our customers stow the their Bromptons in small airplanes, through narrow hatches in their boats, in the 'trunk' of Mini Coopers, under desks at work, in closets at home, in shopping carts at the market, in their laps riding the bus, bring them on dates, on the rear rack of their full sized electric bicycles etc.

Of course tiny space is no requirement for enjoying a Brompton. Some of our customers fold away their Bromptons on board their mega yachts, in the bellies of huge commercial jets, in their land cruiser RVs, in their palatial homes while others just treasure the security of their bike being out of sight. Others may not fold their Bromptons that often but simply enjoy a highly accomplished, compact bike.

While some customers prefer to custom order we strive to also keep a fair selection of models in stock in our Seattle store.

Shown here are few examples of models priced basis black or red color, traditional tires and differentiated basis whether 2, 3 or 6 speed (standard gearing), rear rack (R) or front+rear battery lights (-plus). Choice of handle bars: traditional upright (M), straight (S) or touring (P). Bikes built incorporating the Titanium package are denoted -X.

Which are our best-selling models?

As many customers purchase custom-specified bikes as models off our floor. Their choices range from the best-selling M3L in our Oceanside CA store at around $1K to Titanium 2-speeds and fully equipped 6-speed commuter or touring models around or above $2K. We also install the Schlumpf reduction gear. Our best-selling model in our Seattle WA store is the M6L. In color other than black or red, 12% lower gearing, Schwalbe Marathon tires and S-bag (including the front luggage block) it is currently priced at $1,340. While worldwide demand is up for Bromptons the British Pound is down. Has there ever been a better time to buy a Brompton?

Super Light Models

At an extra $740- 830 Super Light bikes include the following titanium parts: Rear frame, front fork, pedal axle bolt, seat post and fender stays. The classic main frame thus remains steel alloy. Super Light bikes also incorporate the following upgrades: Alloy head set, lightweight front wheel (with double-butted spokes) and front hub with an aluminum axle and extra high quality, sealed bearings. And what a ride.

Color Selection

Comes indeed in classic black but as well in numerous, modern colors including two-tones. See the decidedly un-staid Brompton color options.

March 2009: Bikes shall arrive with the Brompton Wide Range hub. How does gear inches compare to the current hub? Calculated with the smaller optional 44T chain ring: Current hub: 33-82. BWR: 29-95.

For some riders, on some routes, there may of course be a worthwhile difference with the BWR hub. Otherwise some of us Brompton riders may not find that 29 versus 33 shall make riding on hills that much easier than it is currently. And some of us may neither be strong enough or in a hurry enough to find that much use for 95 versus 82. That said, the BWR hub constitutes yet another step in the careful and sound evolvement of the Brompton design.

Model selection

You can 'build' your own custom Brompton by using our convenient 'configurator'. To assure that the customer receives exactly the bike he or she expects it does not include a shopping cart ordering function. Instead please phone or email us if you are placing an order.

A special order involves no extra cost over the same model in stock but incurs several weeks of waiting before your built-to-order bike reaches us from the London factory. How many weeks obviously depends on the factory order book at the time of placing your order.
