Electric and folding bikes are recently evolved industries in the U.S. Concerned about finding competent, experienced and committed service for your bike or power kit? Our full service department was established in 1996. It is staffed to preferentially support the owners of the bikes they bought from us—and to do so expertly, promptly and flexibly.
We are not set up to handle any other customers whether their bikes are labeled Currie, US Pro Drive, eZip or iZip.
Currie Technologies is the well established leading distributor on the U.S. market of a wide range of electric bike models. Our own cooperation with Currie goes back to 1996.
Since 2010 Currie has introduced several impressive medium and higher end iZip models. Our customers of these models are quite pleased with their purchases and our service department is enjoying an easy ride as well.
Key features of the new iZip models include:
Style and riding experience amazingly akin to regular bicycles. No 'clunky mopeds' these!
250, 500 and 750 Watt motors. (As a comparison world elite bicycle racers can amazingly keep up pedaling at 350-400 Watt for a couple of hours, most of the rest of us 50-150 Watt).
The E3's models incorporate 'dual model' control, i.e. the Metro, Path and Vibe offer the instant choice between 'twist your wrist' throttle and 'pedal activation' (of the rotation sensing design).
Among 'single mode' models the Urbano offers pedal activation of the 'rotation sensing' design, the Express of the 'cadence sensing' design and the Ultra of the particularly intuitive 'torque sensing' design.
The 'Got It All bike'—truly.
The superbly comfortable and versatile 500 Watt E3 Metro offers the rider the instant choice between riding solely by 'twist of the wrist' throttle or, should he or she be so inclined, pedal activation of the rotation sensing kind.
See and be seen: sit upright on the superb cruiser saddle with hands resting on the raised and optimally adjustable handle bar. Glide along on wide tires. Dual disc brakes stops you reassuringly even down steep hills with the serious loads you may be carrying on the E3's unique dual racks.
Gently twist the throttle: The E3 takes off instantaneously displaying amazing torque and surges smoothly, quietly and swiftly to 20 mph. Few hills shall be encountered which the E3 cannot crest with ease.
Other features include a 36V/10Ah Li-Ion battery unobtrusively placed in the, seat post suspension and 8 speed shifting.
The E3 comes in slope frame (fits riders from about 5'6") and low step-in (fits riders from about 5'2") models.
This powerful and utilitarian design should appeal to the cyclist as well as to someone who might be considering a motor scooter or small motorcycle. But no 'clunker' this one: the E3 is niftily maneuverable, pedals decently even in power-off mode and weighs a mere 55 lb.
Our Seattle store customers may take advantage of our special light as well as rack and fender deals.

A popular model with a drive system similar to the E3 Metro for those customers preferring the cruiser look.
Available February, 2012. $1,999
The Ultra is for those of us who wants an electric bike that rides, handles and looks like a accomplished bicycle with the power of a Tour de France rider. We can now—and only after 15 years in the business—offer this!
If you share our enthusiasm over pedal activation of the intuitive 'torque sensing' kind currently offered by the Giant Twist but want twice the power, higher speed, sportier handling and the ability to swiftly crest steep hills (with only moderate pedaling effort) then the fabulous new 500 Watt Ultra awaits you. All mere 50 lbs of it.
The Ultra's motor responds instantly and proportionally to the rider's pedaling effort: The power you need, the instant you need it, without having to give it a thought.
Other features include the 36V/10Ah Li-Ion battery unobtrusively placed in the frame, 24 speeds, dual disc brakes and dual suspension.
Fits riders from about 5'6".

The gorgeous Express (related to the Swiss Dolphin) is one of the most accomplished production, interactive high performance electric bikes found anywhere around the world:
The 'cadence sensing' Express offers a fascinating, infinitely variable and powerful riding experience.
While clearly those content with just twisting a throttle on a 'moped akin contraption' need not apply serious prospective buyers are welcome for a test flight.
$4,999 for the 2012 model. Only a small number of this exceptionally accomplished, interactive performance model are brought to the U.S. over and above what's been purchased by the Los Angeles Police Department. You may thus want to place your order without delay.

What does a 20" wheel folding bike offer compared to regular 26" or 700c wheel bikes?
Our customers tell us—beyond terrific advantages such as 'stow away security', 'fitting in a small space' and 'ease in getting on and off'—that their stylish, well designed, small wheel folders provide more nimble fun to ride and easy convenience in folding than perhaps anyone really should be entitled to.
But does a small bike really ride as well as a regular size bike? As life long cyclists we admit to initial skepticism and even prejudice. But that was seven years ago. Now we emphatically know the definitive answer: A well designed, quality folder absolutely does. Read more about this increasingly popular bicycle category (whether with an electric motor or not) here.
The elegant, perky and winsome Urbano electric folder is a zippy and quiet delight to ride: It crests serious hills, pedals smoothly concurrently with the motor, and actually pedals with fair ease even without the motor (leisurely on modest terrain, that is).
Powered by a smooth and quiet 250 Watt rear hub motor the Urbano is pedal activated (of the 'rotation sensing' design) with three instant power level settings. 15 mph top speed.
The 24 Volt, 5 Ah, 3 lb Li-Ion battery is discretely placed in the frame but removes easily case need. It charges on or off the bike.
With its 20" wheels and uni-frame design the Urbano is easy to straddle and fits riders from about 5' to above 6'.
7-speed derailleur and dual disc brakes.
Folds quickly to 21" W x 34" L x 27" H.
Weighs 42 lb plus the 3 lb battery.
Comes in deep blue.
Fenders and rear rack not included. This is an awkward model to fit but while we manage it does take a lot of time. For bikes picked up the installed prices are $80 for a fender set, $95 for a large and sturdy rear rack or $155 for both. (A small rear rack that clamps on the to seat post is alternatively available for $35).
Currie offers no folder for 2012. Here's you last chance to purchase the highly accomplished Urbano for a mere $999. If you need to double your range get an extra battery for a mere $295 with bike purchase.

The Ultra: Superbly torque sensing like the benchmark Giant Twist but lighter, sportier, 24 speed, much quicker, faster and with twice the power. (Can higher praise be found?). Here shown in our Seattle store.
The E3 Metro: The comfort and utility of a small motor scooter but at a mere 55 lb, with dual mode control and pavement wrinkling take-off torque. Step-thru and slope models shown here in our Seattle store.
The Express: Nothing short of being the most accomplished, powerful, interactive performance electric bike to reach our shores. You may still be able to get a 'like new' demo from our Seattle store or wait for the 2012 model at $4,000+ (still superb value).
