Adaptable Power Systems, a.k.a. Kits

Since 1996 we have carried a dozen kit brands and sold close to a thousand kits. The majority of these were installed by our service department—on a wide variety of bikes, recumbents and trikes.

We currently sell kits by: BionX, Clean Republic, E-BikeKit and eZee Kinetics.

Prices for power kits, which fit most regular bicycles, start at $395 with SLA (sealed lead acid) battery and range between $795 and $1,995 for Li-Ion (Lithium Ion).

Add between $50 and $200, depending on kit and your bicycle's design/equipment, for a warranted installation. Or install yourself.

A. eZee Kinetics kits

36V/350W geared hub motor kits in front or rear wheel. State of the art 9 Ah Li-Ion. Throttle or pedal activated (rotation sensing). 20 mph. $1,055.

 

B. BionX kits

This Canadian manufacturer of highly accomplished kits offer a wide range of models—all rear wheel, direct drive, dual mode (throttle + torque sensing pedal activation), state of the art Li-Ion battery options, 20 mph, 'regen' (regenerative braking), viz.:

• 37V/350W, 6.4 Ah on rack, kit weight 16.5 lb, $1,495
• 37V/350W, 9.6 Ah in frame, kit weight 18.4 lb, $1,695

C. Clean Republic kits

Offers a 250 Watt, 15 mph, geared hub motor of 7 lb weight laced in a front wheel. This kit design uniquely installs with quick ease: Do it yourself or we install for $50.

Two battery options:

*Range (= miles per fully charged, relatively new, warm battery) is merely indicative as obviously varies with terrain, rider weight, pedaling, speed etc.

A hassle free boost button activates the power. Its Velcro base attaches 'anywhere' on the handle bar.

$395 with SLA battery, $795 with Lithium battery. (20" wheel extra).

 

D. E-BikeKit kits

Kit includes a 350 W (geared, 7 lb) or a 500 W (direct drive, 14 lb) front or rear hub motor, operated by twist grip or thumb throttle, 17 mph, with a 36V/9 Ah SLA battery of 16 lb. $585.
