Li-Ion Battery Care

To enhance battery performance and longevity please assure that you:

Avoid drawing high power (i.e. twisting the throttle completely) except intermittently and sparingly. The system provides you with up to 20 Amps of current but your battery unavoidably suffers if made to sustain such draw.

Avoid riding so that you deplete the battery. In particular do not "pulse the battery", i.e. after resting a depleted battery for the voltage to nominally recover and then twisting the throttle in an attempt to "squeeze out a bit more distance". This will cause irrepairable damage to the battery.

Charge the battery after each ride, unless 'just around the block'. Absolutely do not wait til the battery is drained. Li-Ion and NiMH batteries do not have a memory and are thus ideal also for partial (or 'opportunity') charging at any time. A fully charged battery shall last longer (i.e. longevity) than one that is left partially charged. Always plug the charger to the battery and the charger to the wall before turning the charger on.

Also please be aware that:

A factory fresh battery needs a few discharge+charge cycles (remember do not fully drain a battery) to reach full capacity. The range (miles per full charge) attained initially shall be less than after a few cycles.

The battery should not be kept or stored in a hot place.
