Reasons to ride a human power augmented aka electric bike

We started to develop, build, ride, service and sell electric bikes in 1996. Here are some thoughts (in no particular order) on why one may want to ride an electric bike:

  1. To re-live the joys of bicycling, perhaps not experienced since childhood.
  2. Finding the concept of augmenting human power more attractive than the replacement of human power. Or 'designed as if human power matters'.
  3. Gliding up hills with light pedaling only.
  4. Experience being a strong bike rider as only the world's best bike racers are able to keep up pedaling 350 Watt.
  5. Having the option of biking and arriving at a destination crisp and presentable.
  6. Riding an 'exercise machine' with ever-changing scenery (well, depending on where your ride of course), on which you can at any moment modify your level of effort.
  7. Having the driver of a 4,000 lb and 150 hp car yell 'Cheater!, while you ride your 48 lbs and 1/3 hp human power augmentation machine.
  8. Having a lycra clad rider, who is out riding after transporting his/her bike 30 miles on top of a SUV, yell 'Cheater!', while you ride to the grocery store in your regular clothes.
  9. Keeping up with one's partner.
  10. As the law regards the electric-assisted bicycle as a non-motor vehicle and in essence as regular bicycle you are allowed to ride also in bike lanes and on bike trails. No registration or license is required.
  11. Makes it practical to get out of the habit of driving a car all the time.
  12. Motivates you to go biking when you may not feel like it.
  13. Provides a consistent, versatile alternative to the pedal-only bike.
  14. Saving time by exercising and commuting at the same time.
  15. Recharges from a standard 110V outlet for pennies.
  16. Batteries are sealed, non-spillable, maintenance-free and recyclable.
  17. Fit your electric bike with baskets or panniers and you'll handily pick up the groceries you may be reluctant to carry on your regular bicycle.
  18. Gliding along near-silently on the energy equivalent of a light bulb in your living room.
  19. Doing something that works today for a better tomorrow.
  20. Doing something tangible for a livable planet and our children's future.
  21. Enjoying the advanced technology and aesthetics of today's electric bike.
  22. Arriving at one's destination relaxed, and staying fit.
  23. Allowing oneself a deeply enjoyable and plain fun experience.
  24. Our outstanding, advanced technology, consumer-ready, well supported bikes start at $1,075.
