Schwinn Electric Bikes

Being light and bicycle akin the Schwinn may appeal also to those who hope to pedal a fair amount without motor assist. If lifting may be an issue the bikes weigh a mere 44 lb ('about', depending on model) after sliding out the 6 lb, quick release, lockable battery. Our Seattle store has been a Schwinn electric bike dealer since Fall of '08. Our customers are quite pleased with their purchases and we have encountered few if any service issues.

Schwinn World

Schwinn Electric Bike

Our Seattle store received the World in late Fall '08. It is a pedal-activated (senses speed, not torque) model with a quiet, compact front hub motor, with far better performance 'where the rubber meets the road' than its nominal 180W rating may suggest. Its 24V/10AH, lockable, quick-release Li-Ion battery is placed in the rear rack and recharges within 5 hours. Its light weight (50 lb with battery), 24 speed derailleur, good level bicycle componentry and integration contribute to a bicycle-akin feel and handling, makes the World swift (17 mph shut-off) and capable on moderate terrain and agreeable to pedal also in power-off mode. Will not ship.
