15 Years Later
Fifteen years of relative sameness perhaps were one selling and servicing a well established product but quixotic or at least chaotic years when indulging in the quaint pursuit of hawking human power augmented, a.k.a. electric bikes, and folding bikes.
The early years weathered evolving designs, service issues, an eclectic bunch of manufacturers and distributors as well as eventually deflated sales expectations. Over the years we have evaluated numerous brands and carried two dozen.
Our business turned the decisive corner in 2002 when we encouraged Giant Bicycle Company to bring what became the durable-beyond-belief Lite model to the U.S. market.
Among current electric bike offerings the eZee Kinetics line of bikes and kits was introduced in 2006, the Giant Twist Freedom and Freedom DX models in 2008, the Giant Twist Express in 2009, and in 2010 the iZip models Urbano folder, Rapido and Express plus kits by Clean Republic and E-BikeKit.
While as enthused as ever about well designed 250 Watt electric bikes we are now also offering several amazing bikes with 'pavement wrinkling' power: The 500 W iZip E3 Metro and Ultra, the 600 W Stromer and the 750 W iZip Express, as well as 350 and 500 W kits by eZee Kinetics and E-BikeKits.
In 2004 we opened the doors of Folding Bikes West. Visitors are frequently amazed to learn what these intriguing small wheeled folders uniquely offer the cyclist. We sold then, and still sell, the full lines of Brompton and Giant folders as well as some Dahon models.
We offer electric folders by eZee Kinetics, iZip and Fast4ward.
Customer satisfaction with bikes bought from, and serviced by, us gratifyingly continues to be very high. In the last few years just about all of our customers seem quite pleased with their purchases—and some even tell us so, thank you!
